“Hopefully by bringing the danger of living with high levels of radon to the public through media and community awareness, no one else will have to endure the tragic loss as we did.”
– Tina Steele, daughter of Ginger Collins, A "Voice of Radon"
Together, we can save lives.
CanSAR is a non-profit organization that aids and empowers radon-induced lung cancer survivors. We define “survivors” as those diagnosed with lung cancer, as well as their family members. CanSAR volunteers are committed to raising radon awareness. They help to shape public policy by promoting radon awareness legislation and educating lawmakers on the real dangers of radon gas, encouraging them to treat radon issues and lung cancer with the seriousness they deserve. Read more about our mission.
Elizabeth Hoffmann founded CanSAR in 2005 during her own battle with radon-induced lung cancer. Liz fought tirelessly to give other survivors a voice and a community that could work together to enact real legislative change. Liz’s Law, which seeks to inform homebuyers of the benefits of testing for radon gas and treating their new homes if elevated radon levels are found, was named in her memory. Learn more about Liz’s Law.
100% of all donations made to CanSAR go directly to lung cancer survivors and their families, and toward the effort to pass “Liz’s Law” in all 50 states. Donate now or Join us in our fight to save the 21,000 lives lost each year to radon-induced lung cancer.
